Cognism alternatives for US coverage, smaller teams and monthly billing
Cognism is strong for European mobile numbers but sold on annual contracts reportedly worth $15,000 to $60,000+. For US depth at enterprise scale, ZoomInfo. For monthly phone data, Lusha or UpLead. For a cheap European LinkedIn lookup, Kaspr. Apollo suits US-focused teams wanting sequences. Sluice suits small teams prioritising email over phone.
Three different reasons to leave Cognism
Cognism's strengths are specific: EMEA coverage, mobile numbers verified by phone ("Diamond Data"), intent on the Pro plan, and a credit model where 1 credit reveals 1 contact and re-viewing is free. Teams rarely leave because those stop being true. They leave because one of these applies:
- Your market moved. Third parties report weaker accuracy in the US and APAC. A team that started in London and now sells mostly into Chicago is paying for the wrong strength.
- The contract is bigger than the need. Prices are not published; contracts are reportedly $15,000 to $60,000+ a year, annual.
- The seat count is wrong. Standard and Pro include 5 seats. A founder with one SDR is paying for three people who do not exist.
Each reason points to a different replacement, so find yours first.
Reason 1: you need US depth
ZoomInfo
- Suits: larger teams selling mainly into North America who need a very large database, intent data and enterprise features.
- Price: not published; annual only; entry reportedly about $15,000 a year for 3 seats and 5,000 credits, median about $33,500 (third-party, as of October 2026).
- Weakness: it swaps one annual contract for another, with reported auto-renewal on 60 to 90 days' notice and 10 to 20% increases. See ZoomInfo alternatives.
Apollo.io
- Suits: US-focused small and mid-sized teams who want data, sequences and a dialer together.
- Price: Basic $49 per seat a month billed annually with 30,000 credits a year; Professional $79; Organization $119 with 3 seats minimum (as of October 2026). A phone is 8 credits (third-party).
- Weakness: reported accuracy is around 88% in the US but 60 to 73% elsewhere, so it is not an EMEA replacement, and reported bounce rates are 15 to 35%.
Reason 2: you need phone numbers, but not a $15,000 contract
Lusha
- Suits: reps who dial from a browser extension and need numbers on demand.
- Price: free with 40 credits; Starter $49.90 a month (or $37.45 annually) for 400 credits; Pro $69.90 for 600; Premium $399.90 for 3,400. A phone costs 5 credits (as of October 2026).
- Weakness: Starter covers 80 phones a month, so heavy callers end up on Premium.
UpLead
- Suits: small teams who want mobile direct dials and verified emails on every paid tier, monthly.
- Price: Essentials $99 a month for 170 credits, or $74 a month annually; Plus $199 a month for 400, or $149 annually (as of October 2026).
- Weakness: high cost per credit at the entry tier, and no intent layer to replace Cognism Pro.
Kaspr
- Suits: European prospecting from LinkedIn profiles, at self-serve prices.
- Price: free with 5 phone credits a month; Starter $49 a month billed annually ($65 monthly) with 1,200 phone credits a year and unlimited B2B emails; Business $79 annually ($99 monthly) with 2,400 (as of October 2026).
- Weakness: profile-by-profile lookup. No list building, no sequencing, no intent.
Reason 3: you are a team of one or two
At five seats minimum, Cognism prices out the smallest teams by design. Here the question changes from "which database" to "how do I find the right fifty people this week".
Sluice
- Suits: founders and small teams who email or message more than they call, and whose buyers leave traces in public: commenting on posts, reviewing competitors on G2 or Capterra, hiring for a role, advertising on Google.
- Price: Starter $9 a month, Working $39, Agency $149, monthly only with no seats (as of October 2026). Directory previews are free; only people scoring 70 or more against your customer profile are revealed, at 5 cents each. See pricing.
- Weakness: be clear on this: if phones are why you bought Cognism, Sluice is not the replacement. There is no dialer and mobile numbers are available but expensive. HubSpot is the only CRM integration, intent events like "raised money" are not available yet, and Sluice is new without public reviews.
Decision table
| If your problem is | Look at | From (Oct 2026) | You give up |
|---|---|---|---|
| US accuracy, enterprise scale | ZoomInfo | Reportedly ~$15k/yr | Contract flexibility |
| US accuracy, small team | Apollo | $49/seat/mo annual | EMEA data |
| Phones, monthly | Lusha | $37.45/mo annual | Volume per dollar |
| Phones and emails, monthly | UpLead | $74/mo annual | Intent, cost per credit |
| European LinkedIn lookups | Kaspr | $49/mo annual | List building |
| Contract and seat size | Sluice | $9/mo | Dialer, cheap mobiles, track record |
What a switch costs in practice
Say you pay a reported $15,000 a year and your team reveals 150 contacts a month, half of them for phone. That is 1,800 contacts a year at about $8.33 each. On Lusha, 75 phones (375 credits) plus 75 emails (75 credits) is 450 credits a month, which fits Pro's 600 at $69.90 a month: about $839 a year. Kaspr Starter, at $588 a year, includes 1,200 phone credits a year and unlimited B2B emails. Neither matches Cognism's phone-verified mobiles in Europe, and that may be worth the difference to you. The numbers will differ for you; the method holds. Count reveals, split them by type, and price them on a monthly tool before your renewal notice date. Our cost-per-lead guide has the full method, and Lusha alternatives goes deeper on per-phone pricing.
Questions people ask
- How much does Cognism cost?
- Cognism does not publish prices. Standard and Pro include 5 seats, and third parties report annual contracts of $15,000 to $60,000 or more.
- Is Cognism good for US data?
- Cognism is strongest in EMEA, especially phone-verified mobiles. Third parties report weaker accuracy in the US and APAC, which is a common reason US-focused teams look elsewhere.
- What is a cheaper alternative to Cognism for mobile numbers?
- Lusha (Starter $49.90 a month, 5 credits per phone), UpLead (mobile direct dials on every paid tier, from $74 a month annually) and Kaspr (1,200 phone credits a year on Starter, $49 a month annually) are all self-serve.
- Is Sluice a replacement for Cognism?
- Only if phones are not central to your outbound. Sluice has no dialer and its mobile numbers are expensive. It suits teams who mainly email or message people found through public activity.
